Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain

Good Monday to you!  This week I am acting as Paper Queen (thank you but hold your applause until the end LOL) over at Paper Playtime and this week's challenge is "Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain" which is sponsored by The Stamping Boutique.   I used one of their digital stamps for this challenge and colored her in using simple watercolor pencils and an aqua blending pen. I also used Stickles around the rain drops and puddle.  I didn't want to take away from the image so I didn't put a sentiment on the front. With these stamps I don't think you really need to put anything, the artwork will speak for itself.

This was my very first time ever using a digital stamp and I had SO MUCH FUN!!!  I'm hooked.  Give it a try and you'll have a blast too.

So head on over to Paper Playtime and play along with us. Be sure you take some time to "Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain", it's a beautiful symphony created just for us by a loving God.  :)

Take care
Stephanie

Baby girl mini album

Here is another project I worked on over Labor Day weekend for a baby shower gift.  I loooooooove how it turned out. Lots of handmade goodies in here including tulle flower that looks like a ballerina tutu, tons of stamping and embossing and pink goodness everywhere :)

Charms for September charm swap with Cindy

Ok so my blog managing skills are lacking, I'm working on that. I can only juggle so many online sites at one time .... well that and I'm learning new crafting skills. Woot woot! Yay me!

I've made so many projects over the summer it's insane and I am having a BLAST! Crocheting, making mini albums, cards, shadow boxes, altered wood shelves, charms...you name it I've had my grubby hands on it LOL

I have always wanted to learn beading and jewelry making but could never quite get it. I even held onto some of the supplies I bought when I first started out. So now the big thing is making charms to attach to a mini album or whatever you want to hang it from but mainly it's the mini album. One of the ladies I subscribe to on YouTube was hosting a charm swap for September and I dove in head first and signed up. I had so much fun!!  (so of course I had to go out and buy tons more beads and findings....tsk) YAAAAY!  I had to make 8 charms for my group and I will get back 1 of mine plus 1 from each of the 7 ladies in my group.

I decided to go for an autumn theme ... I am so ready for the holidays to start!!!  :)

Sunny Days!

I love summer, (except for the heat and humidity LOL).  So I really wanted to take part in Canadian Nickel Scrap'n "Summer Vacation" challenge.  I already made a vacation themed card so I didn't want to go that direction and I thought of flowers, sunshine and bright colors for summer. This is what I came up with.

Sunflowers cut from Walk In My Garden ...Sunny Days cut from Create A Critter and I think the sun also came from CAC.  I added some googly eyes to the sun for some character and drew in a smile lol.  I inked around all the cuts and the background paper with Martha Stewart cats-eye inks (clearance at Walmart for $6, set of 6 I think). Kraft cardstock for the card base cut to fit a business sized envelope (9x4).

Have a great Sunday!

Paper Playtime Challenge #2

Hiyas!

I have been in a slump the past week and made nothing except 3 sunflowers...and that only because I was playing around with my new cart (Walk in my garden)..found it at Michaels for $19.99 (!!!!) They are putting a lot of Cricut on clearance, deals to be found so get over there and check it out.

Anywho....this week's challenge over at Paper Playtime (blog hosted by the lovely and talented Janis of Pause Dream Enjoy) is  "In thy face I see Honor, Truth, & Loyalty."   I knew I wanted to incorporate God but I wasn't sure how. I found inspiration over at Alex's blog You Had Me At Craft ... after seeing her card and reading her post for this challenge I knew what I wanted to do.  To me, the cross represents honor, truth and loyalty and our freedom is found at the cross.
So I set out to make it. Naturally didn't have any crosses but the "t" from A Child's Year was good enough after a wee modification lol  The rest of the cuts are from Independence Day cart. All cut at 3".  That flag is cute! All the perfect little stars it leaves behind can be used for something else I'm sure. My cat Lucy is currently wearing most in her fur right now... she insists on sitting in my lap while I'm at the craft table. She needs a raincoat.

So head over to Paper Playtime and join in the fun. This week's Queen was Mary of Cardz tv.  Haha we had Queen Mary this week, who else can say that? LOL  I just love everything she does!

Happy Tuesday!

Freedom Card

Ms Mary over at  Cardz Tv posted a new segment called Super Simple.  Cards you can make in 5 minutes or so. In honor of Memorial Day, she did a card titled Freedom. So I went with that theme and recreated her card in an "Americana" vibe. Not so much a bright red white blue but a darker, deeper tone to the colors and an off white instead of white. I also ran my paper (DCWV Summer Dreams) thru the Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder and inked the edges of everything in silver. The stars and "freedom" were cut from Graphically Speaking cartridge.
I really like how it turned out. I might make a set for the July 4th holiday.

Happy Memorial weekend!!

MPS Father's Day challenge

Hi everyone!

I hope you're having a fun, fabulous and scrappy good time this Memorial Day weekend! (God bless all of our service men and women ...past and present) :)

Robyn over at My Pink Stamper is having a fun challenge...create a Father's Day project. Simple enough.... until you realize that you don't really know how to do "masculine" stuff LOL  I'm more of a pink-glittery-blinged up-flowery and butterflies kind of girl.  But during my "dark time" last night, (big storm knocked power out for about 3 or 4 hours, bleh...they really need a battery pack for the Cricut LOL)....I used inspiration from Janis' framed card here... I like how it turned out. Note that the glossy accents is still drying, I don't have patience to wait and then take a pic LOL

Man silhouette is from Summer in Paris cut at 2" and I flocked the hat, glossy accented the rest. Didn't like the glitter from the other side of the blue paper for the frame so I went around with brown ribbon. Stickers came from K&Co, found at Michaels today. (Also found Paper Doll Dress Up for $27.98, score!). Pretty simple card, love how it turned out and I think my dad will like it too :)

wee Memories challenge #7

Hi there, I hope you're having a fabulous Thursday and looking forward to a long Memorial Day weekend!! :)

Jenny over  wee Memories is having a challenge, it's titled Sky's the Limit (challenge #7).   For this one I went with designs in the clouds theme. I wanted to try welding on my Gypsy and what do you know, it worked! Ha! I can do it, I'm getting dangerous!!

I used to love finding shapes in the clouds, I still do actually. I'm in awe of things that God has created, like clouds. I could look at clouds all day and never get tired of it. The big fat white puffy ones that look like a giant fluffy marshmallow, or ones that look like bunnies, butterflies or hearts hehe. Even the storm clouds are fascinating (as long as they keep moving along).

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look,
Stephanie

"My Sewing Room" sign for Rebecca

Happy Tuesday!

I just made a "sign" for a friend at church who saw the canvas I made for my mom. Rebecca said she wanted a hanging like that declaring her new sewing room. At first she said shadowbox and then said like the thing I made for my mom which is canvas. So I went back and forth, shadow box or canvas. I just got all of the elements laid out how I wanted them to go and then decided to go with canvas. Can I just admit right now that I HATE mod podge. That stuff crinkles my paper something fierce. Granted this is only my 2nd time using it so it "could" be user error. Oh well.
Still, I LOVE how it turned out. I used several different mediums and that just tickles me to pieces. I mod podged the paper to canvas (edged canvas with Tim Holtz dabber in gold) and tore the edges of the paper, then inked it with TH's brushed corduroy, stamped and embossed "sewing room", stamped the flourishes in the corner bottom right , butterflies and the flourish under "sewing" I cut out the dress form using the Cricut Summer in Paris at 6 1/2" glimmer misted and added pearl bling from K and Co. Stamped the "imagination" sentiment (tim holtz set) and tore the edges, inked with brushed corduroy and glimmer misted then backed on cardstock cut out with Spellbinders labels, inked that too LOL Hot glued some buttons from Hobby Lobby (the sewing items) and added the lace at the top with the rest of the bits from the button pack. Super cute buttons!  Prima bling in there too, LOTS of drama with the bling, I don't want to talk about it right now...  :P
I went back and got 2 scrabble -esque tiles and glimmer misted those and threaded on lacy ribbon, glued up top to say "MY" right above "sewing room" (did that after pics). Came out really cute, I'm happy with it enough to give it to her tomorrow LOL Whew. Fun night crafting!
I hope you had some crafting fun today as well :)

CCC #25, Butterfly Card

Cricut Cardz Challenge #25 was to create a card using a butterfly or bird cut.  I chose butterfly  :)   After I took the picture of the card .... I noticed that unintentionally the word "Hi" seems to appear. LOL  How funny.

Thanks for looking,

My "Cuckoo Clock / Gingerbread Clock?" card lol

OK so I was flipping through the pages of one of my olllld card making mags because I was bored, you know how we hoard things and then drag them out again 3 yrs later. Well, I came across a card that reminded me of a cuckoo clock. I thought to myself "oh I can totally do that".... well here it is. Somewhere in the middle of this it turned from Bavarian to Gingerbread LOL I love it though. :)
Thanks for looking
Stephanie

Good morning from Houston!

Went for my daily walk at 6:30 this morning and was greeted by a beautiful sunrise and some of the prettiest wild flowers (and a bee, squirrel and whatever that big bird is LOL). Some of God's most beautiful gifts :)

Here is a little something I made for the Bookmark Challenge that Janis is having over at Pause Dream Enjoy. http://pausedreamenjoy.blogspot.com/2010/05/pde-challenge-2-bookmarks.html

Little miss Lucy "helped" me make this so she thought she should be in the picture (or part of her anyway). :P

Weekend Project

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! I've completed the shadowbox for my brother & sister-in-law...their 16th anniversary is this month and I found the invitation from their wedding (I never throw anything out lol).

Took me a while to figure out my layout and it just seemed to come together for me. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I hope they like it.

Some new creations

Hiyas
So I was totally enjoying my first ever National Scrapbooking Day this past Saturday and was up until 12:30 or 1 am making cards for challenges and just having a lot of fun blog hopping and creating. I was trying to get an idea for Mother's Day and went to bed with some small idea but not sure how to pull it off.
Sunday I woke up at 5 am (ewww) and grabbed my coffee and hit the scrap desk. (my cats were completely confused). After playing around on my Cricut and making a card I whipped out a canvas project for my mom in under an hour. Hello. I never do that. I covered with mod podge (first time working with it) and one of the K&CO Blossomwood papers. Added a handmade satin lollipop flower and lace, chipboard MOM accent from Mariposa line and a couple of acetate pieces so she could slip a picture in and change it up whenever she felt like it. After looking at it and pronouncing it good I walked away and came back twice to add more embellishments to it (the sugared flower in the top right corner and the "memories" sticker from the Blossomwood collection). I think I may need an embellishment intervention....I need a sponsor that I can call who will tell me to put the bling down and step away from the craft desk. *tsk* I see an empty spot on a project and feel like "something HAS to go there". If it can't outrun me... it's more than likely going to be glittered, inked and blinged within an inch of it's life.
Oh yeah, the "Bienvenue" card, I made that at 5 am Sunday morning. Who gets up at 5 am and makes a card?? me. I guess that was my version of stretching and warming up before the real deal. I'm thinking the Bienvenue card could be made smaller and turned into note cards. How cute. That was stamped with a french script background stamp & silver ink on plain black cardstock. The french maid cut at 4" from the Summer In Paris Cricut cart and I stickled the cutout parts (I told you I glitter stuff up like a crazy person). I thought it needed more (hello intervention, anytime now....) .. so I grabbed for my feathers and found an itty bitty one that fit perfectly on her feather duster, how clever of me! LOL Little bling on the shoes and voila a cute card. I was tickled with myself.
The other card (Home Sweet Home) is inspired by Jeannie at aplaceformycards.blogspot.com Wow this woman is talented!! Branches, leaves and birdhouse cut from Stretch Your Imagination and the bird is from Serenade. I had so much fun Sunday making things!!!

I won Create A Critter cart on Ebay thursday nite and of course I was stalking the USPS website all day trying to track it LOL Is it here YET?? I am an instant gratification kind of girl. :P Oh, I also won From My Kitchen on Ebay on Friday ... can't wait to get those 2 in and play with them!
Have a fabulous day! :)
